European Healthcare

T.R. is on an overseas investigation of the European health care system that our President wants for us. So far the comments are "God Forbid", I wonder what that means?

Cut Spending First

T.R. attend the Lake County Republican Central Committee meeting Monday night to hear from State Senator Bill Brady and State Senator Dan Duffy. Both men said the Republicans in the State Legislature are united about not raising taxes before spending is cut back. But the Democrats seem not to hear them or the public complaint of higher taxes in a bad economy. Brady & Duffy both want to balance the state budget with cuts to new spending programs and lower spending for existing state programs. Sen. Brady insisted that Republicans sticking to their conservative principles can win elections and turn this state around. The Democrats just don't seem to listen, they just passed a new program to give grants to released felons who have been jailed for at least ten years to start up new businesses. Some might call that pouring money down a rat hole, I call that typical Chicago Democrat spending.

Balanced Budget Needed

The State Legislature controlled by the Democratic Party of Cook County has ended the current legislative session with much of the state business undone. They could not bare to cut programs and they did not dare to raise taxes. They want increased programs and new programs to increase the size of government, but they look for someone else to pay for it.

Gov. Pat Quinn said he would start sending notices to social service providers alerting them of the consequences if a budget isn’t enacted by July 1, the first day of the new fiscal year. Speaker Madigan said, "I'm not going to put a time line on this process." What does matter, is now they need Republican votes to pass a balanced budget. The Governor and the Legislative Leaders meet later this week to find a way out of this budget mess.

Now is the time for real answers to the economic mess the state is in and not more smoke and mirrors that we have had the past six years under Democratic leadership. What the state needs is real leadership from Springfield, not new increased programs controlled by an increased state government.
