Steve Greenberg needed in Congress

Daily Spotlight

On the eve of the mortgage crisis in May of 2007, Congress attempted to pass a bill that would establish new regulatory oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to ensure their troubles did not carry over to the entire economy. These regulations could have, at the very least, reduced the effect the housing bubble’s burst had on our economy.

However, Melissa Bean, the largest recipient of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac contributions per year in the House of Representatives, acted on behalf of the mortgage giants and drafted the “Bean-Neugebauer Amendment” which weakened the regulation and undermined the bill. She even solicited feedback from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac on her amendment.

This issue is more than “pay-to-play”, which is much too common in Illinois. It goes deeper. Melissa Bean has shown that not only is she unwilling to stand up against the special interests for her constituents, she is willing to stand against her constituents for the good of the special interests.

Melissa Bean’s commercials speak of courage—but it is her extreme lack of courage that has put American jobs and homes at risk.

Happy Birthday Teddy

Today is President Theodore Roosevelt's birthday, and the Bull Moose Club held a birthday party for him. T.R. could not attend in person but we did get to hear a previously recorded message from him. His main thoughts were that the American people elect leaders that will give them an honest and square deal, not leaders that just give lip service to good government. I want to thank Nancy Pease for hosting the party.

Remember to vote and tell your friends and family that their vote this year counts even more now then in past elections. We need people of honesty and integrity in government John McCain, Steve Greenberg, Dan Duffy and Ed Sullivan Jr. need your vote to continue the fight for good government.

At the Debate

At Dock's Bar & Grill in Wauconda Steve Greenberg hosted a Watch the Debate party. We all had a good time watching John McCain explain his vision for America. It is the opinion of T.R. that McCain won the debate.

After the debate Steve Greenberg turned the event into a Town Hall Meeting. Steve proved to be his own man, even disagreeing with some of John McCain's points. One point that came out of the Town Hall Meeting was that Bean has received large sums from the same people that have caused the current problems on Wall Street and Mainstreet. It might seem the people with the golden parachutes like having Bean in Congress. That would seem to be a good reason not to return her to Congress.

Greenberg vs Bean debate

Asks, “Are you better off than you were four years ago?”
FOR INFORMATION: 847-726-0808 | steve@steveforus.com

SCHAUMBURG 10/11/08 – Republican nominee Steve Greenberg shared a stage with Democrat Melissa Bean today for the first time, and emerged the clear winner. The forum, hosted by the League of Women Voters, was held at the Friendship Village in Schaumburg.

Said Greenberg, "I'm running for Congress because I believe that Washington has forgotten who the customer is. Both parties have failed the American people. Washington needs to set the example and cut back before asking the American people to sacrifice."

As Greenberg outlined his stances, Melissa Bean had no answer for why during this economic crisis she has taken $801,000 from the financial sector, the very sector she was supposed to be overseeing as a member of the Financial Services Committee. She also had no answer for why she had become the sixth largest benefactor from special interests in Washington.

"Are you better off than you were four years ago, when my opponent was elected?" asked Greenberg. He continued later, "I believe our better days are ahead of us. With your vote, I will be a voice for you in Congress."

"It's clear why Melissa Bean is afraid to publicly debate Steve Greenberg," said Collin Corbett, Greenberg's Campaign Manager. "Steve Greenberg has a clear vision for leadership and reform in Washington, which he showed today. He is a voice for the struggling families and small businesses here at home, unlike Congresswoman Bean who has proved to be a mouthpiece for the special interests."

Steve Greenberg is the Republican Nominee for Congress in the 8th Congressional District of Illinois. A successful businessman from Long Grove, IL, Steve will reform Washington by giving the power back to the people, allowing them to make decisions for their own family. He will cut taxes, eliminate government waste, fight for lower gas prices and work to ensure the safety of our families.
