Republican Party is Alive

Recently back from the Republican Convention in Decatur IL. and the news I bring back is the Republican Party is alive and well. For the first time all 102 counties were represented with a record breaking number of delegates. It was so crowded that I was forced to defend a seat for a woman delegate several times. Fremont Township was well represented at the Convention.

Steve Greenberg gave a good account of himself, showing he will make a fine Congressman if elected.

For National Committeeman Pat Brady was elected. For National Committeewoman Demetra DeMonte was elected. One of Demetra DeMonte’s first acts was to appoint Kathy Salvi her Deputy.

The theme of the convention was of change. Not the unknown and vague change that the Democratic candidate for President only talks of, but of real change. The change we talk of is to stop the ongoing corruption of government we have in Illinois. It was recognized that the Republican Party did not do enough in the past to stop corruption. We will put out the message that to change Illinois government for the better we need to bring back the two party system. We need Republicans elected to office to give government the balance it needs to be honest and fair. If we don’t all Illinois will look like Cook County with all its Pay to Play Politics. Several Party Officials and Candidates pledged that they would not tolerate corruption and would resign if they were found to be connected to any. I don’t think the Democratic leaders can make the same pledge at their convention.

Taxes, taxes and more taxes

This country was founded on the idea of no taxation without representation. Not many people would disagree today that except for Cook County, we are over taxed without our consent. Even in Cook County the people do not like the tax rates.

In 1776 the people of America decided enough was enough and rid themselves of a government that taxed them with little thought of how the taxes hurt the common man. We need to elect people to government that understand Lake , Mc Henry, Du Page, and other counties of Illinois have been taxed enough by the Cook County Democratic Party. The Governor of this state does not even live or work in the Capital of this state. The high property tax bills we pay are a result of a state government that no longer cares or represents the citizens of Illinois. This November vote against the politicians that stand with the Governor of Cook County.

Link to the rescue

State Senators Link and Bond have voted to save Governor Blagojevich from a recall amendment to the State Constitution. This is just one more example of corruption in state government. Who will rescue them from the voters?

The Republicans need to get the message out that they have the answer to clean up the mess of six years of state government controlled totally by the Democratic Party. Republicans want open and honest government, no more "Pay to Play".
