Fed Program Crashes

The Federal Government suspended its Cash for Clunkers program after less than a week. Before it even started the government computers that registered the car dealers crashed because they could not handle the number of dealers. The system then could not keep up with the customer demand in the few days it was open to consumers. The Department of Transportation, which runs the program needs time to sort out how much money is left in the $1 Billion fund. This was the program created by Congress to help the car industry, get rid of gas-guzzlers and have consumers buy more fuel efficient vehicles. The Cash for Clunkers program has crashed and will need more taxpayer money before it gets running again.

This is the same Federal Government & Congress that wants to rush out a complete overhaul of our health care program. Can we afford to have our health care program crash too?
How about just reading the Bill first before you vote on it.

Read the Bill First

Several members of Congress have signed a pledge to read the 1,017 page health care bill before they vote on it. We vote in our members of Congress to represent us in Washington D.C., and we have members of Congress that do not plan on reading a bill before them that will change our daily lives. Maybe if their own Congressional health care plan was included in with the same package they might be more interested in reading the bill before they vote.

As of today our own Congresswoman Melissa Bean has not signed the pledge to read the health care bill before she votes on it. If anyone happens to see her on one of her visits to our community, please ask her if she reads the legislation that she votes on.

Cook County Pork Projects

Our Governor and the Democratic controlled State Legislature passed a $31 BILLION capital spending plan to improve roads, rails, and school buildings this month.

According to a July 25th article by the Illinois State Journal-Register, $100,000 of this $31 BILLION package went to the private Brookfield Zoo to repair the dolphin tank. Brookfield Zoo has $135 million sitting in their bank account while they use our tax dollars. $100,000 will go to the private Irish American Heritage Center in Chicago. Another $2 Million will go to the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago. The list goes on and on of these pork projects in the Capital Spending Plan, while needed repairs to some roads and schools go without.

A statement by House Speaker Michael Madigan's Office said, they were not aware of anything wasteful being done. In other words this is how things are done in Cook County politics with public money. The Dems control all state wide elected offices and the legislature for now. Come November of 2010 we the people can change that.

The Constition

President Obama just spoke out against local police arresting a black college professor. The President needs to read the constitution again, especially the 10 Amendment, which separates and empowers States rights. The Chief Executive of the United States has no authority and should not try to influence local government. We are still living in a republic governed by a Constitution of the people and by the people and not the socialized government that he would like to see imposed on us.

With his poll approval ratings dropping below 50% for the firs time, maybe the general public has finally started to wake up to what their President is trying to do to their country.

The Race Begins

Rumor has it that there are already 4 candidates on the Republican side ready to announce that they will be running for the 8th District seat in Congress. Maybe we might get a member in Congress that will do more than visit the 8th District while trying to represent us in Washington.

On Monday 10th District Congressman Mark Kirk announced his plan to for the Illinois United States Senate seat. For details you can call Kirk's office at 847-513-9355.

No More Government Takeovers

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. has reported one of it's biggest earnings period ever. J.P. Morgan just posted $2.7 Billion in profit. So why did we bail out the Wall Street Banks if in just 8 months some of them are now reporting huge profits?

GM (Government Motors) has received Billions in government bailouts, but Ford Motor Company has not taken any and is doing better than GM in sales.

President Obama now wants the Federal Government to completely take over the nation's health care system. So far the government track record of handling the economy is poor, so why would we let them take over another part of the economy?

No to European Healthcare

My trip to Ireland revealed as I expected that they do not think their Socialized Medicine is the way to go. Asking a young doctor what they thought of the government medical program, the answer was "where do I begin, lack of staff, lack of funding, misplaced priorities, etc...". Another citizen when told the U.S. might copy the European standard of medical care said "God Forbid". I was told on Sundays the local hospital only has one doctor on duty, due to lack of funding. What kind of public outcry would be heard if Libertyville Condell Hospital did the same thing here?

Why would we want to copy a system that is inferior to ours and costs more? Please let Congresswoman Bean at her next parade stop in our community, know that we do not need or can afford socialized medicine here.

Cap and Trade Bill Tax

Congresswoman Melissa Bean has voted for the Cap and Trade Bill. This is a tax on power companies that the power companies have already publicly stated they will pass on to the users. In other words another tax on us from the Federal Government. Higher taxes to help pay for Big Corporate bailouts while the ordinary taxpayer is saddled with a national debt that only our grandchildren will see paid off.

If you happen to see Congresswoman Bean visiting our Congressional District, please tell her to change her vote. Maybe better yet come next November we can elect a member of Congress that will really represent us in Congress.
