A Square Deal
The Lake County Young Republicans stated during their last meeting.
“…that our party needs to stand proudly on our three principles of personal accountability, good transparent government, and fiscal responsibility.”
They may want to consider one more principle and give the Republican Party one more leg to stand on. President Theodore Roosevelt wanted everyone to be treated according to their own abilities, a square deal for all and no special favors for any group.
“Let the watchwords of all our people be the old familiar watchwords of honesty, decency, fair-dealing, and commonsense… We must treat each man on his worth and merits as a man. We must see that each is given a square deal, because he is entitled to no more and should receive no less.”
I believe the “square deal” fits in nicely with the principle of personal accountability, but takes it to a higher level. No person, group or organization should receive any special consideration over anyone else, nor should anyone be discriminated against. The Republican Party has always believed in the “square deal”, they have however allowed others to steal and corrupt the idea of a square deal for all. It is the Republican Party that stands for the rights of the common citizen and the Grand Old Party needs to remember that and get the message out for everyone to hear. No one should “pay to play” in

Impeachment of the Governor
The Lake County Young Republicans held their event tonight at Austins Steak House with music, good food, conversation and laughter.
The main event was hearing from State Rep. Ed Sullivan Jr., Rep. Suzie Bassi, Rep. Sandy Cole, State Sen. Dan Duffy and Sen. Matt Murphy talk about the impeachment of the Governor.
The State Reps. explained the reasons for the House to impeach the Governor. Sullivan and Bassi both explained in no uncertain terms that his misconduct was known to anyone that cared to look since the start of his first term in office. Sullivan went on to tell us that the Democrats rallied around Rod and supported him for his reelection knowing this. It was their support and the large amounts of money he spent, that got him elected again. The Republican Party had a sub par candidate and little money. What was worse, the once loyal Republican voters stayed home on Election Day. The Republican Party did not due good service to the citizens of
State Senators Duffy and Murphy could not talk about the details of the impeachment since they have become members of the jury. Sen. Murphy did say that the Governor has complained about the rules of impeachment. The State Senate took the same rules that Congress used for President Clinton and
They took questions from the audience and a student from
It was fantastic to see a room filled with young people that wanted to do something about the corruption in the state that is driving out business and jobs from the state. The Young Republicans of Lake County are off to a great start.

Throw more money!
I guess that is Dem talk for "throw more money at the problem". A TRILLION dollar Federal budget shortfall does not seem to bother the Democratic controlled Congress. We won't even mention the National debt (too depressing). Can we at least track where we throw all this money?
Somehow when I heard change is coming to Washington, I thought it meant more than changing over to the old liberal idea of larger government throwing around larger amounts of our tax money.

Senator Roland Burris??
The United States Senate will soon have another member, Roland Burris. Now that Illinois Secretary of State Jessie White has sent a letter with his signature that states the papers from the Governor appointing Roland Burris are from the Governor of Illinois. I guess that is Jessie White’s way of getting around certifying the papers from the Governor appointing Roland Burris. Even our current
I think there might be a new breeze in the air, one that I hope blows away the corruption, double talk and pay to play politics from the

Where is Bean?
The national economy is in trouble, what is Bean doing? Her press releases do not mention the economy or the unemployment, maybe she is unaware of what is happening?
Must we wait until she is up for reelection before Congresswoman Bean takes some action on what the people of the 8th District are concerned about?

Kirk in 2010
Mark Kirk could be a good person to be at the top of ILL. GOP ticket for 2010. The Republicans now need to get other good candidates for the right type of change this state needs.

Fix Cook County First
This is just one more example of the Democratic Party wanting to change Lake County from mostly Republican to Democratic control. Maybe they don't like that the Lake County County Board has been running a balanced budget, without any scandal. That just makes their neighbor to the south look bad. The population of Cook County is dropping, while Lake and other counties are still on the upswing. That just weakens the power base of Cook County, not a good thing for the Democrats. So instead of fixing their own house, it makes more sense to just take over your neighbor's house.
If the Democratic Party of IL. is such a great thing to belong to, why are they trying to get rid of the Governor they helped to elect and why would the Lake County Sheriff switch to the Republican Party? Maybe Al Sharpton should work on Cook County before coming to a county that does work for the people.
