Greenberg vs Bean debate
Asks, “Are you better off than you were four years ago?”

SCHAUMBURG 10/11/08 – Republican nominee Steve Greenberg shared a stage with Democrat Melissa Bean today for the first time, and emerged the clear winner. The forum, hosted by the League of Women Voters, was held at the Friendship Village in Schaumburg.
Said Greenberg, "I'm running for Congress because I believe that Washington has forgotten who the customer is. Both parties have failed the American people. Washington needs to set the example and cut back before asking the American people to sacrifice."
As Greenberg outlined his stances, Melissa Bean had no answer for why during this economic crisis she has taken $801,000 from the financial sector, the very sector she was supposed to be overseeing as a member of the Financial Services Committee. She also had no answer for why she had become the sixth largest benefactor from special interests in Washington.
"Are you better off than you were four years ago, when my opponent was elected?" asked Greenberg. He continued later, "I believe our better days are ahead of us. With your vote, I will be a voice for you in Congress."
"It's clear why Melissa Bean is afraid to publicly debate Steve Greenberg," said Collin Corbett, Greenberg's Campaign Manager. "Steve Greenberg has a clear vision for leadership and reform in Washington, which he showed today. He is a voice for the struggling families and small businesses here at home, unlike Congresswoman Bean who has proved to be a mouthpiece for the special interests."
Steve Greenberg is the Republican Nominee for Congress in the 8th Congressional District of Illinois. A successful businessman from Long Grove, IL, Steve will reform Washington by giving the power back to the people, allowing them to make decisions for their own family. He will cut taxes, eliminate government waste, fight for lower gas prices and work to ensure the safety of our families.

Dr. Mike Oster for Coroner
| Lake County GOP Calls For Coroner to Resign |
| Lake County GOP Criticizes Coroner for His Role Predatory sexual assault of a child is one of the most horrific crimes imaginable. In this case, the victim was a five-year-old child, and the defendant, Montel Branch, was convicted of this crime by a Lake County jury. Branch had a long criminal history. On Friday, September 19, 2008, Branch was sentenced to 19 years in prison. Although Montel Branch thankfully was convicted, what was outrageous about his trial was that the paid expert witness for Branch was Lake County Coroner Richard Keller. The Coroner is the second highest law enforcement agent in the County. In fact, the only person that could arrest the sheriff is the coroner. It is astonishing that Richard Keller would use that position to be a paid defense expert witness for a convicted felon in a child molestation case. Lake County Chairman Daniel Venturi condemned Keller's actions and called for his resignation. "The office of Coroner is a full-time obligation, and is not something that you can put on hold to take a side job in a position that compromises the integrity of the office," said Venturi. "In addition, it has the potential to cause confusion to a jury when the second-highest law enforcement officer in the county appears as a paid witness for the defendant," Venturi continued. Almost as offensive is the fact that Richard Keller hired himself out at $100 per hour to work as a defense expert while being paid a six figure income as Lake County Coroner. "Ironically, even though Richard Keller testified on behalf of the defense, the jury obviously disregarded his testimony and the individual was still convicted of the horrific crime," said Venturi. "The citizens of Lake County deserve better; they deserve law enforcement officials who will honor their oath of office and advocate for the victims of crime, and not the predators. There is no excuse for Richard Keller's action and he should immediately resign as Lake County Coroner." Keller is being opposed in the November election by emergency room physician Dr. Michael Oster, of Gurnee. |

Teddy Roosevelt, the original Bull Moose
CreedI believe in honesty, sincerity and the square deal: in making up one's mind what to do - and doing it. I believe in fearing God and taking one's own part. I believe in hitting the line hard when you are right. I believe in speaking softly and carrying a big stick. I believe in hard work and honest sport. I believe in a sane mind in a sane body. I believe we have room for but one sole loyalty, and that is loyalty to the American people.

Steve Greenberg comments
Congress has adjourned for their "District Work Period". Don't be fooled, this is nothing more than a five week vacation that this Congress does not deserve.
Sadly, after weeks of standing in the way of commonsense energy solutions, my opponent cast the deciding vote to adjourn the house. This hypocrisy is a slap in the face to the many families who were forced to cancel their summer vacations due to high gas prices. Congress ought to lock the doors and pledge to stay in session until an agreement can be reached on a bill focused on providing relief at the gas pump for hurting families.
Our nation can no longer afford politicians in search of political gain at the expense of their constituents. We need leaders willing to take a stand for the people back home.

Bull Moose Club Meeting
The Bull Moose Club had another meeting today. The Club invited Dan Duffy and others of T.R. thinking to address the club. What came out was the local Republican Party has a group of candidates that it can be proud of.
Duffy explained that he built his company from the ground up while he and his wife also have been raising a family of five children. He has seen what an inept government can do to hurt business, which in turn hurts the State’s economy. The Democrat’s control the State Senate, State House and the Governors Mansion. The State of Illinois ranks last in too many areas nationwide, while the Democrats fight amongst themselves.
The solution: elect people that think and act as Teddy Roosevelt did to make this a great land. T.R. knew what it was like to fight corruption in government while at the same time creating an environment that allows all businesses to grow and succeed. Good government and a good economy, what a concept!
