MORE TAXES

President Obama has announced what type of cars and light trucks the automobile industry will produce. No more large SUVs or vans for the family. Forget about that new muscle car for the open highway. The President knows what type of car the American public needs. He has also determined the how many car dealerships the automobile companies can have selling the correct type of car for us. You won't even mind paying more for your new Presidential approved car.

The President's Administration has already taken over banks and investment companies for the public good. He has removed executives that he felt were not moving the companies in the right direction.

Don't worry about the cost our grandchildren will pay the bills.

Our own Democratic controlled State Government is trying to keep up with our national leadership.

Governor
Quinn has proposed an income tax increase to help repair a combined $11.6 billion deficit over this fiscal year and next, and he said that he thinks lawmakers will support it before session adjourns at the end of the month.
“We have to help education and public safety and health care,” he said. “And if we don’t have the revenue, there are going to have to be severe cutbacks.” The Governor and friends have not stopped with an income tax increase, they have other plans:

More Taxes
  • Reclassify soft drinks, candy, beauty and some hygiene products for sales tax purposes and generate up to $150 million.
  • The sales tax on alcohol also would increase for wine (from 73 cents to $1.39 per gallon), spirits (from $4.50 to $8.55 per gallon) and beer (from 18.5 cents to 23.1 cents per gallon). It would generate about $113 million a year. Opponents said taxing alcoholic beverages is not a constant source of revenue for the state.
  • Two separate types of gaming would generate about $375 million. That includes legalizing video gaming machines in places where alcohol is served. The state would tax and regulate the machines and garner revenue.
  • Auto title certificate fees from $65 to $95.
  • Registration fees from $15 to $25.
  • Driver’s license fees from $10 to $30.
  • Fines for semitrailers that are over the approved weight.

Never has the Democratic leadership mentioned anything about cutting spending. Do we need the government running once private companies? Do we need all the new social programs that we are told are for our public safety and health care? How about the taxpayer getting to keep the money they earned, and spending it the way they decide?
