Taxed Enough?

Lake County Government has worked to keep within their budget, unlike their counter parts in Cook County. The State of Illinois does not support education as they should, which only leaves the property tax payer to fund the schools. Cook County Government and the State legislature are controlled by the Democratic Party of Cook County. Next November you have a decision to make, do we continue to follow the Dems, with higher taxes and larger government or do we vote for a real change?

While you write your entire property tax bill payment to the Lake County Collector, Lake County keeps only 7%. The rest is distributed to 231 other taxing districts in the county, with schools getting the biggest piece. With a median housing value of $282,000 in Lake County, $390 of the average property tax bill goes to County government.
