Conservatives & Reagan

It’s not often that I would quote Rush Limbaugh, however his speech on December 4, 2008 for the Hillsdale College Churchill Dinner is one that all conservative Republicans should consider.
His speech was titled “Do conservatives need to get beyond Reagan?” One part really hit home with me. “America was founded on the idea that our individual freedoms derive from God, not fro m government, and that government should protect those freedoms and never violate them. Reagan argued, and history has shown, that America does best when it is true to its original idea. …conservatives need to continue to tell the American people as a whole that the ideas of individual liberty and limited government are right and the policies that come from those ideas work best to produce prosperity.”

Have you ever looked at who are considered are best Presidents?
George Washington
Thomas Jefferson
Abram Lincoln
Theodore Roosevelt
Ronald Reagan

Don’t take my word, just look to Mount Rushmore and you will see four of those five there. The common element with these men is they believed in the individual, not big government or big business. Does a Trillion Dollar bailout of big business and increasing the size of Federal Government make sense? If you could ask those five presidents I think they would answer NO. We need to improve our transportation system to help business ship goods across this country, which will help the economy. From the very beginning our government has helped to build roads, bridges, railroad tracks, and canals, that is what we should be doing now. The government has already given the large banks over $300 billion dollars and nothing happened. It is the individual taxpayer that will turn this economy around not the large banks, Wall Street corporations, or big government.
