The local libraries of Lake and northern Cook held a legislative breakfast today to promote the needs of the library system. Most of our State Representatives and Senators attended to hear about library concerns and report how things are going in Springfield. The only disagreement between the Republicans and Democrats was the size of the State budget shortfall, Republicans say 10 BILLION and Democrats say 9 BILLION. I don't care which number you use, it is a large hole in the state bank account that we taxpayers will be asked to fill.
The two big no shows were State Senator Terry Link, who did not even send anyone to explain his absence or take notes on what was said. The second big no show was Congresswoman Melissa Bean, her aid explained that Melissa Bean was home but decided that staying home with the kids was more important. Could it be that Congresswoman Bean just could not find where in her district the breakfast was being held at. We know she does not want to live in the 8th district, but can she at least visit it between election campaigns?
